Hosted by Global Compact Networks Sri Lanka and Bangladesh

Family friendly workplaces are essential components for equal participation in economies and effective leadership in the labour force. Corporate respect for human rights is essential across the international value chain, and is key to ensuring good working conditions and benefits from family-friendly policies. By promoting and embedding policies and practices that support employees, family friendly workplaces allow employees to thrive and grow simultaneously at work and at home. In most areas across the world, women are stereotyped and considered to only have a place at home, and are not traditionally seen in the workforce. This is especially
true for the South Asian region, where childcare and domestic work are seen as the primary responsibility for women. Inadequate policies, outdated gender norms and limited maternal protection restrict the opportunities for women and their effective participation in the workforce.
