Hospitals, schools and water utilities in Ukraine increasingly rely on solar power with battery storage to keep essential services running during power outages. What data do we have on the technology and brands available, their carbon footprints, lifecycles and cost? Electriciens sans frontières and UN Global Compact Network Ukraine will present the results of the PHENIX study, an environmental and market assessment of battery storage for social facilities in Ukraine. The session covers Electriciens sans frontières' work in Ukraine, how the carbon footprint of batteries was assessed, the limitations of available data, and what the findings mean for procurement of battery systems for public facilities.
