Achieving the IMO's net-zero ambitions requires collaboration between governments, industry and stakeholders to address barriers related to fuel uncertainty, infrastructure, financing and technology deployment. Building on the outcomes of Portugal's Task Force on Blue Decarbonization, a multistakeholder initiative convened by the UN Global Compact Network Portugal to identify priority actions for accelerating the maritime sector's energy transition, this event will explore how public-private collaboration can translate these priorities into action. The panel discussionwill bring together shipping, ports and banking perspectives to examine operational challenges, port electrification, alternative fuel readiness and financing needs. The discussion will highlight how coordination between industry, public authorities and financial institutions can support the maritime energy transition, drawing lessons from Portugal’s experience that can inform cooperation and action in other countries and regions.
