The 2021 UN Food Systems Summit (UNFSS) and subsequent stocktakes have underscored the central role of business in driving food systems transformation. Despite progress, structural challenges persist: uneven access to finance, weak accountability mechanisms, and limited integration of local producers into global value chains.
Latin America and the Caribbean, as one of the world’s most biodiverse regions and a leading food exporter, faces unique opportunities and challenges. While climate risks, deforestation, and inequality pose major threats, innovative business practices across the region demonstrate pathways toward resilience, equity, and sustainability.
This session builds on the outcomes of UNFSS+4 and recent dialogues on data and AI for food systems, inclusive financing for SMEs and smallholders, and corporate accountability and seeks to highlight regional private sector experiences and strengthen alignment with global priorities to accelerate food systems transformation.
Selecting this session includes access to the UN Global Compact Hub for the entire day.
