Description
Globally, women-owned businesses are well represented in the entrepreneurship space, yet it is estimated that they only access between 2 and 10 percent of commercial bank finance. This holds true in emerging markets, where women-owned firms represent 31 percent to 38 percent of all small and medium enterprises (SMEs), but have unmet financial needs close to $300 billion every year. Women-led startups received just 2.3% of US Venture Capital funding in 2020. Gender lens investing plays a key role in offering financial access to women-owned businesses. This session will explore how companies have a leading role to play in ensuring their financial investments benefit women and girls.
