Bassel is a computer systems engineering student at The British University in Egypt and a U.S. Department of State MEPI alumnus, where he studied sustainability and leadership at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. He serves as the PRME Students Regional Leader for Africa and a Steering Committee Member of PRME Chapter Africa. He was also selected by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Environment, and the United Nations in Egypt to serve as a Youth Negotiator for COP29, and he also represented Egypt as a Youth Delegate at COP28.
